Next Bitcoin halving event, which will lead to a reduction in rewards for miners from the network from 6.25 to 3.125 BTC -3.56%, is approaching and there are only 100 days or about 14,500 blocks left, according to CoinGecko and OKLink estimates.

The calculation is based on the average time of Bitcoin block generation, which is 10 minutes, setting a potential date of April 22.

Bitcoin halving events are programmed to occur automatically every 210,000 blocks, approximately every four years. After reaching it, miners will receive 50% less bitcoins as a reward for each confirmed block they add to the blockchain. However, they will continue to receive additional transaction fees for each block, as before.

There have been three previous halving events in Bitcoin`s history, which reduced its inflation in the block reward from 50 to 25 BTC in 2012, to 12.5 BTC in 2016, and to 6.25 BTC in the last halving event on May 11, 2020. In the long-term perspective, there will be only 21 million bitcoins. Halving events will continue until the last bitcoin is mined around 2140. After that, miners will only profit from transaction fees.

Historically, Bitcoin halving events have been accompanied by significant price fluctuations for this cryptocurrency. Although this is not a direct correlation, these events often precede significant market rallies for Bitcoin.

Last month, analysts at spot bitcoin ETF issuer VanEck noted that they expect the event to pass with `minimal crises` and the price of bitcoin to surpass $48,000 after the halving event, and miners will see little worries due to significantly improved balances.

Analysts also expect that Bitcoin will overcome the `presidential fear` during this year`s US elections and reach its historical high by November and peak cyclicality at $160,000. `If Bitcoin reaches $100,000 by December, we risk stating that Satoshi Nakamoto will be named Time`s `Person of the Year`,` they said.
